SCHOLARSHIPS
The
Cooperative awards three $500 scholarships each year. We give
one scholarship to each high school in our service territory, Hickman
County High School, Fulton Co. High School, and Carlisle Co. High School.
Interested
students may pick up an application in January at their high
school guidance counselor's office or at Hickman-Fulton CO. RECC's office.
Completed applications are usually not due until the first week of March.
Hickman-Fulton
Co. RECC defines an eligible student as:

a student who, in all probability, will be graduating at the completion
os the academic year.
- one
whose parents are members of Hickman-Fulton Co. RECC
- is
actively pursuing enrollment in an acceptable institution of higher
learning
- who
has established an excellent academic record in high school
- has
a financial need; and
- has,
in the view of school officials, both the capacity and the inclination
to become
a serious and enthusiastic student at an institution of higher learning.

YOUTH
TOUR PROGRAM
Rules
for Participation

High school juniors, whose parent(s) or guardian is a member of and
received
electric service from Hickman-Fulton Co. RECC at their primary place
of residence are eligible. Children of Hickman-Fulton RECC employees
or directors
are not eligible.

Hickman-Fulton Counties RECC will sponsor one student to the Youth Tour
this summer.

Eligible students must receive a written favorable recommendation from
their guidance counselor and a high school teacher.

YOUTH TOUR AWARD: One winner will receive an expense-paid, week-long
trip to our Nation's Capital as members of the Washington Youth Tour.
Kentucky Delegation Washington Youth Tour is scheduled for June of each
year.

Each participant must submit a completed Hickman-Fulton Co. RECC application
, a recent photo, guidance counselor recommendation, and a typewritten
800 word essay entitled "Cooperatives and Your Community".
Hickman-Fulton will provide resource material for writing the essay
once the application has been received, and it has been verified that
the student, student's parent, or guardian is a member of the electric
cooperative. The deadline for the essay to be returned to the Hickman-Fulton
RECC office is March 15 of each year.

Essays will be judged on the basis of knowledge of the subject, originality,
composition, grammar and neatness.

The winners will be asked to appear on stage for recognition at the
Cooperative's
Annual Meeting.

For clarification, Hickman-Fulton RECC defines an eligible student as:
A) a student
Who, in all probability, will be promoted at the completion of this
academic year, B) who has established an excellent academic record in
high school, C) has been
actively involved in extracurricular activities, D) has demonstrated
leadership
abilities through community activities, E) and has, in the view of the
school officials, the inclination to be a serious, enthusiastic and
well-behaved youth
tour participant.
